An Autumn Birthday

Even if Fall isn't quite yet in the air, I'm feeling it in my craft room!  The glorious colors of Fall are so beautiful, which I tried to capture in this card:
Each season offers its own unique beauty, but I love everything about Fall!  It's the one season I wish lasted longer than all the others!

Happy Birthday, My Love

Today is my best friend's birthday, who just happens to also be my husband!  All his life he has loved cars, and really appreciates the older, classic models.  So in preparation for his birthday, a few months ago (I've never been a last minute person) I decided to try to find the long retired stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Classic Convertibles, which is a set of three stamps with a T-bird, a Chevy and a Corvette.  During my search I learned this set must be rare and highly coveted because there were very few for sale and I couldn't find it for less than $80.  Sheesh!  I love my husband but that is highway robbery.  Since I had time, I decided to be patient and kept checking for new listings.  Finally one popped up for less than $40, so I grabbed it.  Still too much money, but better than $80.

Then I was faced with making a "masculine" card.  I hate that!  They're just no fun.  I had some really nice vintage-looking masculine designer paper from Fab Scraps, Gentlemen's Club collection, so using dies from My Favorite Things and card stock from SU (including retired Baja Blue -- sniff, miss that color!), I managed to put this together, which I don't think came out half bad:
What do you think?  I made a saying for the inside, which looks like this:
Cute, huh?  It works!  The typeface is Will & Grace, and you can download it for free from Dafont.
Here's a photo of the whole stamp set, apparently worth its weight in gold:

Also thought I'd share some birthday pics with you!  Here he is showing off the masterpiece pizza he made for dinner:

And it's hard to tell, but he just opened the card I made him in this one:

All in all, a success!!

Thanks for visiting -- it was fun sharing this with you!

Baby!

Hi there!  A colleague in my office had a baby and sent out the most adorable announcements.  Her supervisor asked if I could make a baby card for her out of it, so this is what I did:
It was fun to make such a personal card!

All the products I used are from SU.  Also linking this to Word Art Wednesday's Anything Goes/A Family Friendly challenge.

Hope you're inspired to do some creating today.  Thanks for stopping by!

Thankful for You

Yesterday I had some time after dinner to study this week's MOJO Monday sketch.  I'm trying to do my share of bringing fall on, so I put together this card based on the sketch:
It's a bit out of my comfort zone, but I think it works!  This is the MOJO sketch:
The stamps and DSP are retired SU products.  The dies are all from My Favorite Things

So Sorry

Hello to you today.  I'm afraid I needed to make another sympathy card.  This was for a neighbor that lived a simple but creative life, so I wanted the card to reflect that.
I hope I got it right for his family.

Happy Birthday to You!

Happy Monday (if there is such a thing)!  Just four more days til Friday! :)

Here's another card I made with Blueprints 26 from My Favorite Things.  So easy and so cute!  The stitched rectangle is from Blueprints 24.  The puffy cloud paper is from Echo Park's I love Sunshine collection, and the stamp message and the rest of the papers are from SU.  I couldn't quite get the background blue paper to look right in the photograph, but it's more blue than green in real life (Marina Mist from SU).

I'm also linking this to Word Art Wednesday's challenge 194, which is Anything Goes / Family Friendly.  I think this card qualifies!!

Thanks for visiting, and hope you do some creating today!
