Today is my best friend's birthday, who just happens to also be my husband! All his life he has loved cars, and really appreciates the older, classic models. So in preparation for his birthday, a few months ago (I've never been a last minute person) I decided to try to find the long retired stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Classic Convertibles, which is a set of three stamps with a T-bird, a Chevy and a Corvette. During my search I learned this set must be rare and highly coveted because there were very few for sale and I couldn't find it for less than $80. Sheesh! I love my husband but that is highway robbery. Since I had time, I decided to be patient and kept checking for new listings. Finally one popped up for less than $40, so I grabbed it. Still too much money, but better than $80.
Then I was faced with making a "masculine" card. I hate that! They're just no fun. I had some really nice vintage-looking masculine designer paper from Fab Scraps, Gentlemen's Club collection, so using dies from My Favorite Things and card stock from SU (including retired Baja Blue -- sniff, miss that color!), I managed to put this together, which I don't think came out half bad:
What do you think? I made a saying for the inside, which looks like this:
Cute, huh? It works! The typeface is Will & Grace, and you can download it for free from Dafont.
Here's a photo of the whole stamp set, apparently worth its weight in gold:

Also thought I'd share some birthday pics with you! Here he is showing off the masterpiece pizza he made for dinner:
And it's hard to tell, but he just opened the card I made him in this one:
All in all, a success!!
Thanks for visiting -- it was fun sharing this with you!
Smiles,
Denise
